The Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events Industry, often referred to as the MICE industry, is large and diverse by its nature and consists of organisers and suppliers engaging in the development and delivery of meetings, conferences, exhibitions and other related events held to achieve a range of professional, business, cultural or academic objectives. The World Tourism Organisation acknowledge that developments in the meetings industry can be an essential to the nation’s economy.
This event has a strong and successful 30 year history as the leading exhibition for the global meetings, incentives, conferences and events industry, starting out in 1988 in Geneva, Switzerland. The first edition of the event featured 450 exhibitors from 52 countries and the Hosted Buyer Programme was launched to the market. EIBTM was acquired by Reed Travel Exhibitions, part of the Reed Elsevier Group in 2000 and moved to Barcelona in 2004.
